I am 54, born in Oakridge, Oregon.
My wife and I moved to southern California in 1996, where I enjoy fishing, camping, and playing video games. But the most enjoyable hobby I have is oil painting.
I’ve always been interested in oil painting but didn’t believe I could do it. One day as I was thumbing through the TV channels, I ran across a painting show on the TV. The painters name was Bob Ross I watched as a picture formed on a blank canvas, I said to myself “I really wish I could do that”. I taped the shows and went to the art store and bought some paints, brushes, and some canvases dying to get started. I watched how he did the sky, clouds, and trees etc, I would pause the tape, and try to do what he did. With practice, reading, and watching I taught myself how to paint with oils. I get such a joy from seeing a painting start from nothing and end up a beautiful complete picture. I have been painting for about four years now.
I have started this site in hopes of sharing the joy with others, and hope it will also inspire others who are interested in painting.
If you put your mind to it you can accomplish what you desire to do.
